STA Travel

Students at the University of Washington—and other nearby colleges and universities—will find STA Travel a valuable resource for summer travel to Europe, spring break trips, and more. Since it is located right on “The Ave,” a hangout for UW students, it is easy to walk to from campus. Office hours Monday through Saturday make it convenient. And, their knowledge about traveling the way students have wanted to travel, mostly with other students and inexpensively, will definitely put you on the right track. Teachers, too!

(Others looking for budget travel will find lots of things here to help them too.)

Good air fares, from simple round trips to Around the World journeys, are the norm here and you will find a helpful chart with such things as baggage and seat assignment fees from airline to airline on the website.

And hotels and hostels? STA has a wide variety of them. How about this? $22 per night for a bed in London, one of the priciest towns in the world, at a backpacker’s haven. In stunning Budapest, an up-and-coming place to visit, you can find a bed for under $20 a night. Most places are under $50. And we aren’t talking about just Europe. In Mexico City, a bed for under $20. Same for Egypt, Rio, and more.

Certain other things can be classified as “deals,” too. For example, take winter quarter off and find reduced rates on eurail passes. Jet Blue has student fares. And certain tour packages have off-season discounts too.

One of the best tools for savvy travelers who qualify are the student ID cards. They are only $25 and will give you lots of discount on everything from air fares to shopping, over 40,000 offers are available with these cards. Youth discount cards can be purchased by anyone up to age 26. A student ID card is available for anyone who is a full time student. And, teachers are rewarded with cards too! Prove your full time status and off you go. Each of these cards is $25 and you may even save that much on your first transaction.

The Seattle office is at 4730 University Way, phone 206-632-2448. Open 10 am to 6pm every day but Sunday. You may call for an appointment, or just drop by the office. Check them out at www.statravel.com
